Art Deco Rings

Originally emerging as a reaction to Art Nouveau, the end of the Art Deco period took a more decorative phase toward a simpler, bolder approach typical of the 1930s as Art Deco Rings emerged in higher profile. In 1903 Josef Hoffman founded the Wiener Werkstatte, a workshop that produced some of the earliest Art Deco designs. These new concepts illustrated a new style based on a simplification of the early 19th-century neoclassical Biedermeier style, peasant art or folk art, quite the antithesis of Art Nouveau. In 1910, the ‘Ballet Russes de Serge Diaghilev' presented Scheherazade with Oriental sets of dazzling, extravagant colors, creating a demand for period exoticism.
