 This selection of Diamond Jewelry includes Platinum and Gold mounted Rings, Earrings, Necklaces, Pins, Brooches and Bracelets. In 1888, De Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd. was created to protect Diamond mine investors. When a new mine was discovered in South Africa in 1870, diamonds flooded the market cutting into the profits of investors who had previously had little competition. De Beers was formed to control the supply of Diamonds, then the demand for Diamonds. To do so, Harry Oppenheimer, son of the De Beers founder, met with Gerold M. Lauck, president of ‘N.W. Ayer', the leading advertising agency at that time to discuss what could be done about the fact that Diamond sales had declined 50% since 1919.
