This Victorian men's sapphire ring, possibly of European provenance, is crafted in 14k yellow gold, weighs 5.2g and measures 10mm wide and 4mm deep. Classically elegant, impressive in design and valiant in aesthetic, this men's
Victorian Ring is inspired by the Medieval 'stirrup' rings excavated in Europe in the late 12th century and in vogue throughout the Georgian and Victorian eras. Stirrup rings first appeared in Medieval Germany, their production being rapidly followed in both England and Russia. Crafted in bronze or silver, such rings were made with the decorative effect achieved through the use of what were then, irregularly shaped sapphires, garnets, and rock crystal. This original Victorian men's ring is adorned with a 0.94ct round-faceted sapphire measuring 5mm in diameter, graded 'lively dark-blue' color and 'fair' clarity. The octafoil prongs securing the cerulean corundum are emblematic of the settings seen on Medieval stirrup rings. This solitaire is exposed atop a delicately scalloped gallery and embraced by broad and tapering shoulders, decorated with meticulous chase work and vertical reedings simulating multiple hoops. A tapering yellow gold band and an easily sizable shank complement this Victorian men's
Sapphire Ring of captivating aesthetic.
